Lake Budgewoi

Results explained

There was a decrease in the turbidity grade this year compared to last year and chlorophyll-a concentrations continued to exceed the trigger value on occasions throughout the sampling period. There were considerable gains in the seagrass depth range which resulted in no net change to the overall ecological health grade for this year and a promising trend for estuary health.

Results explained

A small improvement in long-term turbidity was not enough to improve the water quality grade in Budgewoi, as high chlorophyll-a concentrations are consistently observed. After showing positive signs of growth last year, seagrass depth range decreased this year. There was no improvement in the overall grade.

Results explained

A positive recovery of seagrass in Budgewoi Lake led to an improvement in the seagrass depth range grade. However this was countered by consistently high chlorophyll-a and turbidity concentrations, meaning the overall grade is unchanged from last year.

Results explained

Stable turbidity levels and algal concentrations resulted in Budgewoi retaining a rating of fair water quality in 2014. However, a marked reduction in seagrass depth range from 2013 was recorded.

Results explained

High turbidity levels and moderately elevated algal concentrations coupled with no change in seagrass depth range from 2012 resulted in Budgewoi retaining a rating of fair water quality in 2013.

Results explained

Budgewoi Lake achieved similar results to those in 2010. Water clarity was poor with high turbidity levels recorded however seagrass depth range was moderate as were algal levels.
