The average depth of all three lakes is about 1.7 metres

The deepest parts of the lakes are 3 to 4 metres and can be found around Toukley Bridge, Budgewoi Bridge and much of Lake Munmorah

The combined area of the Tuggerah Lakes catchment, estuary and lakes covers 90% of the Shire

The Tuggerah Lakes are similar to other lagoons on the eastern coast of Australia like Wamberal and Narrabeen.
